  • Trying out free for one month. After installation, they ask for payment. Don;t pay for this. There is endless advertisement for a paid subscription. This should be a free apps if there is advertisement. If Xiaomi phone is cheap but with advertisement apps, understandable, But if you buy a high end phone like Apple, you don't expect any unsolicited advertisement. 02-11-2020 - In addition to STAR reply, I am already a paid subscriber to STAR for RM400 per year. Now asking for RM9.90 per month extra to read online. The Straits Times only ask for S$0.99 per month. Other publications overseas ask for USD1.00 per month. This reflects that STAR MY is not trying to survive but maximising corporate profits. Dollar to dollar purchasing power comparison. STAR MY should charge RM0.99 per month.

  • A few users have highlighted that the app doesn't work anymore ... keeps giving a ' can't reach server at the moment' error! Wake up, The Star app developers! Additional note: Installed the latest update, ' can't reach server at the moment' still persists. Would give ZERO stars if the option was available 😠!!! Update on 09-08-2019 Problem is finally fixed. Boggles the mind how the developers could release such a faulty app. Anyway, good that it's been fixed.

  • I support local journalism and don't mind paying a little bit for the subscription. However, the app are slow to load, the news takes long time to open, and sometimes even failed to load right from the push notifications. 'The Star' splash screen stays notoriously long when launching the app. The news from the stars generally released much slower than Malaysiakini, ChinaPress (CP is free though) etc. Please upgrade your server and backend to justify your new premium subscription fees.

  • In the past you can just read the articles with ads, then they made you sign up using your email. Annoying because the app doesn't keep you signed in over time, you have to log in manually, but whatever, fine. Next, even with log in, they require your name and mobile number to read the articles. Latest update, 80% of articles are locked unless you subscribe. Articles lacking depth, constantly having 404 errors and littered with typos do not warrant a paid subscription.

  • The star very Useless apps now, are u serious? Click each link got ads. If u guys want to put so much ads at least let us can skip it instead of letting us wait. Or just make 1 ads video like 30 seconds or so and thats it. Not every single click i go and 1 ads playing each time. Feels like virus in my device.

  • For the past few days, I keep on facing crashing issues while using the app. My version is update to the latest patch and so does my android software. It just crashes when I try to tap on some of the articles. I never faced this issue before this. Would really appreciate if your tech guys can look into it. Thanks.

  • By far the most annoying news app out there. Very laggy and slow interface, sends out notifications that we cannot customize, which gets very annoying from time to time as it just dumps a whole lot of unfiltered and random news you might not be interested in. Lastly the subscription service is the holy grail of annoyance, it doesn't allow you to view the full article unless you have subscribed with your email. I might as well read through the website, which i highly recommend.

  • Recently, there have been a lot of ads popping up and there is no icon to close the ads on screen. I have to close the app and reopen again. This is unacceptable even for free apps and users of the Star app actually have to pay for subscription. This is totally unacceptable.

  • Going backwards in progress! Now requires you to sign on to view any article in its entirety. The Facebook sign on option doesn't work as it says it requires an email address. Then it asks you to fill up a form that requires your mobile number. Really rubbish, going backwards in progress.
